Make Your Own Microwave Popcorn

Don’t buy a box of Orville Redenbacher ever again.  I’ve been making popcorn this way for years, and it wins because:

Here’s what you do:

  • Get two brown paper bags and put one inside the other.
  • Fill with 1/4 cup of kernels.  Add 1 tsp of oil.
  • CUSTOMIZE!  I like to add salt & cayenne pepper.. but in the past I’ve used sugar, curry powder, cinnamon, garlic salt, etc.  Invent something!
  • SHAKE IT UP!
  • Roll up the top of the bag tightly, but leave room for the popping. [See above photo.]
  • Microwave for 2 minutes BUT BE CAREFUL.  The popcorn burns quickly so as SOON as you hear the popping stop, take it out of the microwave.  Don’t go wandering off or your house will smell like incinerated popcorn for days.
  • Remove bag, carefully open, enjoy!

Go forth and eat popcorn!
